The faculty of English is one of the vibrant departments of the college. The department has fully qualified faculty members and a language laboratory catering to the communication skills of the students. Besides the academic programme, the department offers guidance to the students appearing for the BEC examination conducted by the Cambridge University. The students are also trained in the writing and presentation of seminar papers. Further, the students are encouraged to take part in elocution and essay competitions and personality development programmes. Moreover, the department helps the young engineering minds in achieving a unique combination of soft skills and technical skills for confronting today’s competitive society.

 The department has major responsibilities that cater to the all round development of students. Besides teaching hours, the department organizes a number of activities like debate, extempore competition, paper presentation and so on.

 The department organized the first state level Inter-Collegiate cultural festival RICOCHET in the month of March 2005. The next Inter-Collegiate cultural festival RAPTURE was organized just 6 months later in September 2005, which was a National Level event. A galaxy of stars graced the occasion. Over 35 colleges in and around Tamil Nadu participated. As stars add brilliance to the sky, so also the English department has added to the glory of the institution.

In September 2006 (22-23) Rapture’06, again on a national level was organized, where a record participation was witnessed especially in Light Music. This time also 35 colleges in & around Tamil Nadu participated.

The department also undertakes care of personality Development Programmes for staff and students. Business English Certificate (BEC) classes are conducted by the department. Misrimal Navajee Munoth Jain Engineering College is a nodal center for BEC. Besides, students are trained in paper presentation and seminars.

Publication of the academic calendar, college profile, News bulletins and magazines are also the responsibilities taken up by the department. The English Department has a language laboratory that caters to the communication skills of students.
