This department was started in the year 1994 by the TAMILNADU EDUCATIONAL AND MEDICAL TRUST, a Jain Minority trust with the primary objective of providing higher education to the deserving Jain students. However others are also admitted without reference to caste, creed or religion, with their rights of conscience being respected. The founder Secretary and correspondent late Dr.C.L.Mehta laid a noble policy of "No Capitation Fee in any form " which is perhaps unique and unheard of in the field of Technical Education in the country and this policy has placed our institution in a high pedestal among other institutions.

Two students namely Mr. V.Prasanna(88%) and
Mr. Priyank Jain(86%) have been placed in the
13th and 27th rank in the Anna University Exam April 2006 and
Mr. Ragav Babulnath(89%) have been placed in
9th rank during April 2007 Anna University Examination. The students are doing innovative and industry sponsored projects. They present papers in National seminar conducted at Anna University , IIT-Madras and IIT-Bombay and won laurels, one of our student
Ranuk Santhosh 7th semester Mechanical won first prize in paper presentation during SASTRA 2007 conducted in IIT Madras. These are published in prominent newspapers. In-plant training and industrial visits in each semester are a regular feature. The department of Mechanical Engineering conducts B.E (Mechanical Engineering) and M.E (Engineering Design) Courses. |
