He has given training to more than 3000 students in Civil Engineering and 400 candidates for post Graduate Studies in Environmental Engineering and Science and 1800 in service engineers in short term courses and continuing education programmes.  He has guided 75 postgraduate students in engineering for thesis work and doctoral work.  While serving as professor he received grants from U.G.C under DSA I & II, COSIST and Indo-German project (GTZ) and developed the centre into a centre of international  excellence.  As director of NITTTR, he has given new dimension to the training of technical teachers and trained nearly 25,000 teachers which includes 8000 teachers from Engineering Colleges in the southern Region, N.I.T.’s  I.I.T Madras and I.I.Sc  Bangalore.and was instrumental in training 7,50,000 people in Vocational Education and training in the southern Region under community polytechnic scheme.

He is a member of number of professional bodies, which include institution of Engineers (India), Indian Society for Technical Association, Indian Environmental Association.  He was also the Editor of the Journal of Technical and Vocational Education.    He has published and presented more than 70 technical  papers in journals, International and National Seminars and workshops.  He has served/serving member of several National and State Committees dealing with Technical Education, Science & Environment, AICTE and Universities and has 37 years of experience in technical education. 

            He was awarded the Netherlands Government Fellowship and Government  of India National Merit Scholarship for Graduate study in Engineering.  He was awarded the Best Educationist 2004 and Best Teacher 2004 for his valuable services and contribution for the upliftment   of Technical Education and Experimentation of Integral Education by the Pondichery  Psychology Association in January 2005, and the 25 years or more unblemished  service award  by Anna University in 1998. 

            He has visited the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, France, Philippines, USA and Canada for Cooperation and collaborative development projects  in Technical and Engineering Education.  Presently he is a member of the Appellate authority of Government of Tamilnadu for adjudication of disputes on pollution control and president, Alumni Association, College of Engineering, Guindy.,Member of Board of Studies in civil Engineering and Member Academic Council, Anna University, Chennai.
